After breakfast you’ll head north on one of Scotland’s classic rail journeys, travelling through the scenic landscapes of Highland Perthshire and across the dramatic Cairngorms to reach Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Once in Inverness, your accommodation is just a short taxi ride from the station. After breakfast, it’s time to return to the mainland. Make your own way by taxi to the ferry port at Armadale on the Sleat Peninsula. Enjoy the short but scenic crossing to the bustling fishing village of Mallaig. Spend a little time exploring this charming harbour town before boarding one of the most iconic rail journeys in the world—the Jacobite Express Steam Train. Travel through spectacular Highland scenery and cross the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films.

This unforgettable route takes you through some of Scotland’s most dramatic scenery, from the towering peaks of Glencoe to the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor, before tracing the edge of Loch Lomond. Your journey concludes in Glasgow — though if you’d prefer to finish in Edinburgh, it’s just a short 45-minute train ride further east.
